With recent talks between Jeju’s governor and ICON Council members, the ICON Republic is continuing to contribute to what could become South Korea’s next blockchain hub.

ICON has announced its attendance at Upbit Developer Conference 2018, held in, you guessed it, Jeju Island. The two day event, held from September 13th to September 14th, is organized by leading cryptocurrency exchange Upbit, who recognized a lack of opportunities for developers to openly share and discuss the latest in blockchain technology.

“Upbit would like to create a conference by, for, and with blockchain developers. Upbit Developer Conference 2018 will be a place for developers to hear from the world’s top experts via various dynamic formats and share new ideas with other attendees”, states its website.

In attendance will be ICON Foundation Council member, JH Kim, who will speak on the ‘Interoperable Platform for Enterprise and Dapp Ecosystem’ and discuss ICON’s interchain technology.

ICON is in the perfect position to discuss these matters: it recently launched its own Developer’s Portal, which is a newly created space for developers to come together, share community updates, deliver knowledge and find development resources. JH Kim will be able to introduce real-world, valuable blockchain issues to the discussion.

With ICON dapp, weBloc, also announcing its preparations to establish a corporation in Jeju, things are moving forward rapidly, a sure sign that Jeju is becoming increasingly open to embracing blockchain.

The Iconist will be delivering more detailed information on the Developer’s Portal this week. Stay tuned!
