ICON has released the tentative remaining calendar for the launch of ICON 2.0.
- Oct. 25: The ICON Foundation will upload the migrated ICON 2.0 database and run tests using real data to validate it.
- Oct. 26: The ICON Foundation will provide technical guides to node operators on how to prepare their ICON 2.0 nodes with the new Go-based blockchain engine, Goloop.
- Oct. 27: Stage 2 begins in earnest, with Main P-Reps importing the migrated database. This should take a couple of days. Once all the P-Reps are synched, the network can move to Stage 3.
- Nov. 3: At around 10pm KST, Stage 3 — i.e., the actual activation of ICON 2.0 — will begin. The ICON Foundation recommends exchanges to pause ICX deposits and withdrawals. ICONex and Hana wallets will be unable to submit new transactions. Public endpoints will also be taken offline. Meanwhile the ICON Foundation will submit a network revision proposal for a vote.
- Nov. 4: Voting (hopefully) over with proposal (hopefully) passed. A new backup will be shared for all other node operators (non main P-Reps), public citizen nodes will be restored and public endpoints will be live again. Exchanges will resume their deposit and withdrawal operations. Assuming no critical technical issues arise, the migration will be complete, and the ICON 2.0 era can begin.
